My laptop can not boot until returned to its factory settings, but still gives me the same error?

From what you say seems to me think your hard drive maybe wrong. Is it still under warranty as you bought this last year? The best thing you can really do is take the place of purchase and will have a look for you. You can replace the hard drive if faulty and not then. Or they may have for the manufacturer and will be fixed there. Even if it's out of warranty you can fight and argue their rights to say that is out of warranty since we are only at the end of January. The law is difficult when dealing with consumers as people say one year is not only sufficiently reliable.
