Many South Americans believe that if you take an empty suitcase around the block on the Day of the New Yeara will happen to travel during the year. When my neighbor old man walking outside your front door in Cali, Colombia with a battered suitcase sheÂ'd dust for the occasion, shook my questions curtly.

Around mid-December start to notice a disproportionately large number of fruit and vegetable vendors begin to sell the grapes. Grapes are everywhere by Christmas. Green grapes, purple grapes, grapes mixed rolling down the street and crushed underfoot as you stroll neglected market areas and shopping areas. Eat 12 grapes at or near midnight on New Year's Eve will bring good luck throughout the New Year. Green grapes are preferred by most, but none is sufficient I said Ana Lucia, who came into the room with a bag of mixed broad enough grapes to produce one case of a "wine".

So call me fickle. I have the red too. Should I use a pair New Year's? IÂ'll never know!
